In the thirty years that KOKS has been operational, this process continues to be improved.

Vacuum truck industrial cleaning equipment engineering KOKS Group

Engineering

Every project starts in the engineering department. This department is responsible for the design of the vehicles, as well as for their technical implementation. For example, our engineers calculate whether the pressure/vacuum placed on a tank will be within legal tolerances. They also check whether all the component parts can be driven, and whether everything the customer wants will fit onto the vehicle. From force calculations to design drawings - everything starts with engineering.

Production process

Once everything has been designed, calculated, developed and ordered, all the required component parts will arrive at the logistics department exactly one week before the start of production. Why one week before start? This is because the KOKS work process dictates each product completes a production stage every week during the production process. The entire process consists of 5 stages of preliminary assembly work, 2 phases of preservation work and 5 phases of final assembly work. As a result, the entire production process, from beginning to end, including final production, takes a total of 12 weeks.

Preliminary assembly

When all the component parts have arrived at the logistics department, they go to Phase one of preliminary assembly. During the five different preliminary assembly phases, the individual component parts (Phase 1) are completely built up onto an unsprayed vehicle (Phase 5). During this last preliminary assembly phase, the product is a bare, (stainless) steel construction mounted on a truck chassis. This initial build provides assurance that all the parts fit and are well-connected. After an internal inspection, the entire vehicle is disassembled and transferred to the preservation process.

Vacuum truck manufacturing with welding robot KOKS Group

Welding robot

The best of the best ... vacuum trucks manufactured with passion. In our state-of-the-art factories, KOKS combines the best of both worlds. Experienced craftsmen and modern production equipment, such as welding robots and tank rollers, ensure optimum efficiency and top quality. And our customers benefit from that.

Preservation vacuum truck production process KOKS Group

Preservation

The preservation of all parts is carried out very carefully. For example, component parts are galvanised, stained, scoped and sprayed in the customer's desired colour(s). The latter takes place in our own sustainable paint shop where the spray booths are heated with residual heat from the domestic refuse site over the road. This in-house paint shop is ideal because KOKS places high demands on the preservation work and preserves each part separately. After two weeks of staining, sanding, filling, priming and colour finishing, everything goes to final assembly.

Paint shop KOKS Spray Works Alkmaar The Netherlands

Paint shop

KOKS has its own paint shop called KOKS Spray Works. The entire paint shop measures 900 m² and is equipped with two modern spray booths and two 17 x 6 m preparatory compartments. When setting up the new internal paint shop in 2016, cooperation was sought with our “neighbour over the road”, HVC waste energy plant. Together we searched for other, green energy sources for heating the spray booth ovens. This was to be an alternative to a gas installation, which is what practically all paint shops in the Netherlands are equipped with. KOKS Spray Works chose to heat the paint shop ovens using warm water. We are unique in the Netherlands. HVC supplies this via a water delivery system, and we achieve a huge CO2 reduction. Our 8 painters at KOKS Spray Works give their best every day to establish a brilliant and colourful final result for our customers.

Final assembly vacuum truck production process KOKS Group Alkmaar

Final assembly

The final assembly department is where the vehicle is finally built up into a fully functional end product. All the preserved component parts and required components come together and are assembled into a complete vehicle in the five phases of final assembly work. It starts with an empty truck chassis. The frame is placed on the chassis, followed by the tank and piping. It is now starting to look like a real truck. The cabinets, control panel, valves and all other components are then put into place. The truck is now ready to be set up and tested. This does not mean, however, that the vehicle is ready for delivery to the customer.

Quality control and delivery KOKS vacuum trucks

Quality control and delivery

The final phase of the entire process is quality control. Our quality controller takes every vehicle and checks whether everything is secured properly, working correctly, and manufactured according to the high quality requirements demanded by KOKS. Once it has successfully completed the approval process, the vehicle will receive an approval sticker and can be delivered to the new owner, or our customer.
